The Global Water Initiative (GWI) was an action-research and advocacy programme that ran from 2008-17. The project is now closed. This site is no longer being updated, but allows access to GWI outputs until 1 October 2020 when it will also close. After that date, information about the project and core GWI technical publications will continue to be available from the IIED website and Publications Library.

Measuring, analysing and interpreting groundwater level data in Mopti, Mali

Document language:
French

Hydrological studies like this one play an important role in the sustainable management of water supplies, particularly as they should help reduce the long-term costs of borehole maintenance. In this document, hydrological maps show the underground water levels in the Mopti region of Mali, indicating that the depth of the aquifer varies widely (it is shallower in the south-west of the region, and much deeper in the north and the east).
