The Global Water Initiative (GWI) was an action-research and advocacy programme that ran from 2008-17. The project is now closed. This site is no longer being updated, but allows access to GWI outputs until 1 October 2020 when it will also close. After that date, information about the project and core GWI technical publications will continue to be available from the IIED website and Publications Library.

20 September2018Conakry, Guinea
Participants at the national study restitution workshop
Organized by GWI and chaired by the Ministry of Energy and Hydraulics (MEH), this national workshop was part of the restitution of the study on setting up financial mechanisms related to the sale of hydroelectricity to support sustainable local development. The purpose of this study is to initiate the elaboration of a national strategy in this area.
The workshop had the following objectives:
- That the participants be informed of and take ownership of the content of the analysis and the results of the study's draft report;
- That participants' feedback be shared so that the MEH can finalise and sign off the study report;
- That recommendations be made for the follow-up of the study results.
The final report of the study [in French only] as well as the workshop report [in French only] are available at the top of the page in the "Key Documents" section.
The workshop presentations are available below, or directly on the GWI West Africa Slideshare page.
